What the engagement covers

Design, build and migration on Microsoft Entra ID, with the evidence auditors ask for.

icon-9

Microsoft Identity Manager migration and Entra ID Governance

An inventory of every MIM management agent, sync rule and workflow, mapped to its replacement in Entra ID Governance, Entra Connect or cloud sync, and the provisioning service. Both systems stay in place side by side until each flow is proven.

icon-8

HR-driven provisioning

Workday and SAP SuccessFactors through Microsoft's built-in connectors, and Dayforce, Oracle HCM, UKG, BambooHR or an in-house HR system through API-driven inbound provisioning. Accounts are created in Entra ID and written to Active Directory where on-premises apps still need them.

icon-6

Joiner, mover, leaver automation

Lifecycle workflows, dynamic groups and access packages that grant access from job attributes on the start date, adjust it when a role changes and remove it on the last day. Contractors and other non-employees get their own lifecycle.

icon-5

Active Directory and Okta migration

A plan for which identities, groups and applications move to Entra ID, which stay on-premises for now, and how authentication works during the move, including estates where Google Workspace stays in place for email and files. Okta applications and sign-on policies move to Entra enterprise applications and Conditional Access in waves.

icon-4

Conditional Access and strong authentication

Conditional Access policies, authentication strengths, MFA and passkey registration planned in waves for large user populations, with exceptions recorded and break-glass accounts protected.

icon-7

Roles and application access

Azure RBAC assignments, Entra directory roles and enterprise application assignments mapped to job functions, with Privileged Identity Management for administrator roles.

Assess, Build, Operate, applied to Microsoft Entra ID

Our identity architects work in the Entra admin center, PowerShell and Microsoft Graph, and build HR-driven provisioning, lifecycle workflows and Conditional Access as code that the team can review and rerun.

01

Assess

HR sources, MIM configuration, Active Directory, the Entra tenant and licensing. Identities compared against HR records to find accounts with no owner.

02

Build

Attribute mappings, provisioning jobs, lifecycle workflows, groups and access packages, Conditional Access policies. Piloted with one department or region first.

03

Operate

Scaled across the organization in waves, MIM flows retired one at a time, and the runbooks and review cadence handed to your team.

What you hold at the end

Identity that starts in the HR system and reaches every account in Entra ID and Active Directory without manual tickets.

  • MIM inventory and migration map

  • HR-to-Entra ID attribute mapping and provisioning jobs

  • Joiner, mover, leaver workflows, including contractors

  • Active Directory retirement plan

  • Conditional Access and authentication rollout plan

  • Runbooks and access review cadence

What changes

Access follows the HR record, from the first day to the last.

Frequently asked questions

Microsoft Identity Manager 2016 SP2 is supported until January 9, 2029. Microsoft extended the date from January 13, 2026. Microsoft's recommended path is Microsoft Entra ID and Entra ID Governance, which cover HR-driven provisioning, lifecycle workflows, entitlement management and access reviews.

Workday and SAP SuccessFactors have built-in inbound provisioning connectors for Entra ID and on-premises Active Directory. Other HR systems, such as Dayforce, Oracle HCM, UKG and BambooHR, connect through Microsoft's API-driven inbound provisioning, which accepts SCIM payloads from a script, Azure Logic Apps or the HR system's own integration tools.

Yes. HR-driven provisioning can create users in Entra ID and in on-premises Active Directory through a provisioning agent, so applications that still depend on Active Directory keep working. The migration plan sets which applications and groups move first and when Active Directory can shrink.

Yes. Entra ID can be the identity provider for Google Workspace through single sign-on and user provisioning, while email, files and Google Cloud stay where they are. Organizations retiring on-premises Active Directory often take this route.

A Microsoft Entra ID consultant designs and builds the identity platform: HR-driven provisioning, lifecycle workflows, groups and access packages, Conditional Access, authentication methods and administrator roles. Migration work from Microsoft Identity Manager, on-premises Active Directory or Okta is planned flow by flow, with both systems in place until each flow is proven.

Yes. The migration starts with an inventory of Okta applications, sign-on policies and provisioning connections, maps each to an Entra enterprise application and Conditional Access policy, and moves applications in waves. Users keep signing in through Okta for each application until its wave is cut over and tested.

It depends on the number of MIM management agents, HR sources and custom workflows. A single HR source with standard joiner and leaver flows can be piloted in weeks. Estates with many connectors and custom code take longer, and both systems stay in place side by side until each flow is proven.

SOC 2 CC6.2 covers registering, authorizing and removing user access, and CC6.3 covers role-based access and least privilege. ISO 27001 A.5.16 covers identity management and A.5.18 covers access rights. HR-driven provisioning and access reviews in Entra ID produce the records those controls are tested against.
