Frequently asked questions about the ISO 27001 Accelerator

The accelerator gets you audit-ready in 8 weeks. Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits typically follow within 4 to 8 weeks, depending on your certification body's availability, so kickoff to certificate is roughly 4 to 5 months.

Your consultant runs the gap assessment, writes the Statement of Applicability, policies and risk treatment plan, configures the GRC platform, coordinates the penetration test and the internal audit, and prepares your team for Stage 1 and Stage 2. The certification body issues the certificate independently.

ISO 27001 is an international standard with formal certification by an accredited body. SOC 2 is an attestation report issued by a CPA firm under AICPA standards. Buyers outside North America and in regulated industries typically expect ISO 27001. Many companies pursue both, and the controls overlap substantially.

The standard does not require one. Platforms like Vanta, Drata, Secureframe and Sprinto automate a large share of evidence collection, which keeps the ISMS on a regular cadence after certification. If you already own one, the accelerator builds inside it.

Yes. ISO 27701 extends the ISMS with a privacy information management system, useful for GDPR, PIPEDA or Quebec Law 25 alignment. ISO 42001 adds an AI management system. Both build on the same ISMS, so adding them during the Build phase is the most efficient path.

ISO 27001 certificates are valid for three years with annual surveillance audits. Your team can run the ISMS in-house with the Security Program Manual, or our managed compliance service operates it for you.
